Wellness Checks & Preventive Care

At Sidney Animal Hospital, we prioritize the health and well-being of your furry companions through our comprehensive wellness check and preventive care services. During a wellness check, we conduct thorough examinations tailored to your pet’s age, breed, and individual needs. From nose to tail, we assess their overall health, including weight, dental hygiene, and vital signs.

Additionally, we make sure your pet is up to date on all preventive care such as vaccinations, parasite control and more. Through early detection and intervention, we aim to prevent illnesses and address any potential health concerns before they escalate.

We recommend annual wellness examinations for all pets.

Diagnosis

At Sidney Animal Hospital, we provide comprehensive diagnostic services to ensure prompt and accurate assessment of your pet’s health. We offer in-house blood testing, fecal analysis, urinalysis, microscopy, and limited cytology (the study of tissue cells). While certain tests may still require outside laboratories, our skilled technicians and advanced blood analysis equipment allow us to deliver rapid results for most routine analyses. This efficiency is crucial in cases of illness, but it also benefits pet owners seeking to monitor heat cycles before breeding or needing preliminary assessments of tissue or cell samples prior to pathologist review. This integrated approach to diagnostics underscores our commitment to providing timely and thorough care for your beloved pets.

Radiography

Digital Radiology plays an important role in veterinary medicine. In addition to their diagnostic role in the care of sick animals, we use radiographs (X-rays) as part of a pre-whelping assessment of bitches, and to assess hip and elbow conformation of breeding dogs. Digital radiographs may be sent for certification to the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation For Animals) or other screening centers. We can arrange evaluation of radiographs at the centre of your choice.
